Can not Connect using Wifi

Hi,

So basically my machine used to me my works machine with the domain etc... Therefore internet was under the workgroup of course.

However I now use this computer at home and no longer need the domain and workgroup connection but my Personal wifi instead.

I removed the domain name and I can log in normally, however I can not connect to wifi. It restricts me to using only an Etherley connection. Displaying only an Ethernet connection with an X over it.

so how do I change it so I can use wifi as you would of this was your personal computer at home

Plus mate some system specs would be really handy as we do not know what we are working with here.

I just want to know how to get the ability to connect to wifi as it currently just allows Ethernet connection (win 7 professional)

Something doesn't quite add up here. Surely the company would have wiped it before giving it away? In any case, I would be floored if it had administrator permissions, given it's former purpose and origin. Without that, you can't do much with it, even if you could get the network functional (corporations tend to load their workstations with custom software even for that... almost always to restrict it). You won't even be able to factory reset/clean install the OS, or remove all of that corporate software/restore network settings to default, etc. etc.

So, if they actually did give it to you... take it back and have their tech wipe it (only one that could). If not... yeah.

My mom's, former, company wouldn't give her a company system... instead they made her install a bunch of their Oracle crap on HER system so she could get on their remote network with it, and ever since the damn thing hasn't been able to be put on OUR home-group. And despite a factory reset, too (no idea how that's possible, but evidently, it is). Lesson learned.

Now as Magus has referred to usually companies and governmental departments etc have the Windows Enterprise OS on their machines - or at least the ones I have seen do. It is most unusual to have anything less than that installed even Ultimate. My only guess is that you owned the company and installed 7 Pro again very unusual.
In fact if the machine belonged to a company or gov department then you would need specific admin rights.

I was going to ask this before but was just curious as to what you had. The system specs are what we need to see the details of the components of the machine and that link I sent sets out how to do that. Such things as details of the CPU motherboard model number etc etc because if your problems are down to drivers then such detail is required for us to help.
