Hello CoCoSD,

Did you try to download the driver from Canon website?
Photo Inkjet Printers - Photo Inkjet Printers - PIXMA Pro Professional Inkjet Printers - PIXMA Corporate and Graphic Arts Printers - Photo Fun Projects - Photo Printer - PIXMA iP3000 - Canon USA Consumer Products

Select your OS and it should work.

I have a Canon iP PIXMA 1500, and it works perfect with downloaded drivers.

Best regards,

The only driver on Canon for my printer and Windows 7 is:
Printer Driver Add-On Module Ver.1.10 (Windows 7/7 x64)
aomwin110ea24us.exe
1.10
3.99 MB
10/25/2009

This is not the driver I need, right? This is only an add-on...

Yes, I have. It has several other printers but not mine.
I am not sure if I should try a driver from another printer?
Any suggestions??

CoCoSD,

I read on a Dutch website from Canon about which printers should be supported by Windows 7, your printer is listed too.
Ondersteuning voor consumentenproducten

Your printer should work in Windows 7 like my printer. As far as I remember, I did not download a driver to get the printer working.

When you connected your printer to the computer, and turned it on, did Windows 7 do something, did it try to recognize it?

Difficult problem, maybe someone else on this forum has some advice?

Best regards,

Again, I have Windows 7 w/32 bit and my sytems showing no driver avaailable.
I contacted canon and was advised the driver they recommend for is just that, an add on, it will not function as a full driver. I was advised by Canon that Windows 7 had the driver, but that is true on my computer.

Any Suggestion

And this worked! I had tried everything but once I restarted my system and reconnected everything in this order it did recognize it and install the correct driver automatically. Good luck!

Interesting. I have the same problem that you had, except that my Canon PIXMA iP3000 is not connected to my new Windows 7 computer; it is connected to another computer on the network.

There is NOT a PIXMA iP3000 driver listed in Windows, and there is no Windows 7 driver available for a PIXMA iP3000 on the Canon download page for the PIXMA iP3000.

I opened a support call with the friendly but obviously confused folks at Canon. I expect them to provide an actual driver.

Found Solution (Use XP Drivers)

Hello All,

After running into issues finding IP 3000 drivers for Windows 7, I tried the Windows XP drivers and it Worked! Extract the XP drivers, then manually add the printer.

It appears that the 32 & 64 bit versions of the Windows XP drivers will work with Vista and Windows 7. I have used the Windows 64bit IP3000 driver on my 64bit Windows 7 system and it works like a charm (even over a wireless network print server). Hope this helps!

Thanks to all that posted here I now have my iP3000 installed on my Win 7 PC as well as accessible over the network on a Win XP PC. I add for future readers my method.

To connect a Canon iP3000 on an Win XP PC to a Win 7 PC on the network, download the XP 64 bit driver, and extract to a 'Canon' folder with the XP 64 bit files to the Win 7 desktop. Go to Start Button (on the Win 7 PC) - Devices & Printers, and click add a new printer. Click Network Printer. When the the printer is shown on the Win XP PC, select it and wait for windows to say it can't find the driver. Click OK and browse to the Canon folder on the Win 7 desktop. It will then find the .inf file it needs and install the necessary files to access the printer from the Win 7 PC.

Installing the iP3000 directly to a Windows 7 PC via USB. Turn the PC and the printer off. Boot the PC to the desktop. Connect the printers USB cable to the PC and power on the printer. Win 7 will then detect the printer and install the necessary files.

Hope this is of use.

I have a Pixma iP5000 and the standard W7 driver works fine. I also downloaded the add-on driver and I'm not sure it's installed. It shows on PRINTER (admin tools) but not on Device Manager.

Glad to be of help. It's usually me screaming for help. I offered the instructions to Canon to put on their website, but I had a reply saying they don't support this setup! As the drivers come with Win7, I think they would rather we bought more up to date printers.

I downloaded Vista64 bit driver for the ip3000 and it works fine with win 7.
I had previously downloaded the ''add on'' for win 7. I don't know if that had anything to do with it as well.
Anyway the printer is finally working after 3 days of constant attempts.
NB I also had to run Canon My Printer, so it may have just been the USB take up.
Any way have a go.

I had problems also, but called Canon and ask for top level of support and they helped me, unfortantely I cannot find my cheat sheet on the install. I would suggest you call Cano until you get an answer, you may have to be aggressive, 1-800-828-4040. I think it is supposed to be $10 a call, but I think they comped mine.
Try This
Control Panel
Devices and Printers
Adda a Printer
Add a local Printer (Here it says Windows will find a USB Printer, but we know it doesn't.)
Choose a Printer Port (Here you are on your own Try until something works)
NEXT
Pick Cano an Canon Inkjet PIXMA iP3000
Good Luck but I still recommedned bugging Canon until you get an answer, they are the ones that got mine working.

Windows seven settings - no driver update

I bought a new laptop and it came with Windows 7 Premium. I have a Canon Pixma ip3000 printer. I have looked everywhere.
My printer is not listed. I tried the trick of choosing USB virtual port and then searching for the latest printers. It still wasn't there.

I had the same problem and found that my settings for windows 7 had a tick mark "never allow windows update to install driver updates" or something like that. Go to the "printers and other units" which pop up when pressing the windows start botton. A screen with the units appear with a marking describing their status. At the top of the screen there is an error finder. Use it and it will tell you that your settings does not allow windows update to search for drivers. Change the setting and start error finding again. Now windows 7 will download the driver and you in business. :D Good luck

Thanks dmakinov. After everything else listed failed, the Windows Update suggestion solved it. I checked only the Canon update and unchecked everything else (to save time). I followed these instructions for Windows Update

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Install-Windows-updates

However, I ran into one small roadblock -- Windows Update wouldn't run and I got an error 80072f8f. I had to fix the date/time and that let me do everything and it worked!

Windows Update error 80072f8f

Well, so anyway I got this to work. Thanks Microsoft for making it so difficult! You'd think getting a 3 year old printer to work shouldn't require an update. 3 hours of my life down the drain
