Can not open gif - "Properties" missing tabs and options

I am using Windows 7

I can not open a gif file sent to me. Only one way I know how to open is:
~ right click on gif
~ click on "properties"
~ click on "change"...but there is no "change"...
help please...?

Hello Nownadthen, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if downloading and meging the gif option in the tutorial may be able to help. It will restore the default associations for .gif files.

Thank you very much for your welcome and help, also, I have appreciated the time and efforts you have put about your step by step and very clear directions in tutorial.


I followed your tutorial, and was able to change the program from IE to MS Paint to use to open the gif file but I still received the same message: "Adobe Reader could not open....".


I might have missed something since I am not good with computers, I am sorry perhaps I shouldn't have posted in this advanced forum.


The file I am trying to open is not a confidential one, I can send its URL to your Message Box if you have the time to look at it, it is just an instruction how to build something but very important to me.

It sounds like you may have set it to open with Adobe Reader by mistake.

If the .gif file was sent to you in an email, then you might see if saving the .gif file to your desktop first, and try opening from there instead.
