Can not remove Windows.old

Hello

After I did my clean install and all that I have tried to remove the windows.old folder but it says that it's no longer found there, yet it still shows up on my C drive.

I did remove some stuff out of it ok, but the windows and user folders are still there or at least show up as being there anyway (in the windows.old folder).

Any ideas?

Did you manually delete windows.old or did you use the disk cleanup method..

Thanks guys that's it fixed now. Or at least part of it. the 11GB windows file is gone but as you can see in the screen shot it will not let me remove the user file with these two files.

At first i did remove some programs and stuff my self and just now I went though the disk clean up method.

All yoou need to do is to run the disk cleanup wizard and its gone

Run Disk Cleanup, as several others have suggested, it removed my 40GB windows.old in about 5 minutes

Does it matter? I've got two Windows.old folders.
I've been in both taken what I wanted and deleted the rest and I'm under ten gig for both.
They're not doing any harm are they?

It isn't possible to have two folders with the same name unless there are data integrity issues on the hard drive.

Just seems a lot of hassle to regain less than ten MBs

Another option:

I had this same problem, and I could not delete the file even by using the Disk Cleanup wizard. I ended up using this tutorial for deleting a folder using the command prompt (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/55721-folder-delete-command-prompt.html) and it finally got rid of it!
