Can Seagate 3TB Backup+ external disk work with win7 x64

Just bought Seagate 3TB backup+ external disk.
I can't copy/paste files even after "taking ownership"
Everyone and Administrators have Full Control Permission in Security properties.
Do I have to use Seagate program only?
Can't I simply copy files like I used to do with previous 1TB & 2TB Segate external disks (in win7) or WD drives?
I am administrator and sole user.
OS: Windows 7 ultimate x64

I've never used the seagate program so yes you should be able to copy and paste. One thing I've noticed is it is the slowest drive I have EVER used. I ended up delegating it to File History on a Win 8 machine because it was useless for drive images and transfers.

Slowness may result from USB2/USB3 discrepancies.
But What am I doing wrong? I can copy 4-5 files in a folder of a 100 and than it stops with a stupid error message.
I'll try Acronis True Image, and if that doesn't work (it will be the first time) I'll try Seagate program.
The problem is that backup programs do not give me the control I'd like to have when copying only the files I want.
I have 8 (eight) external disks and this is the first time it happened, and I'm helpless.

partial solution:
switched to usb2 and it works like hell.
So either this external disk doesn't work with USB3 (impossible according to its user guide) or else I have problems with my usb3 drivers (the board is Gigabyte Z87-D3HP).
Last option is that I'm using a hub (front usb port) where I should use a back usb port, since I've seen few devices that refuse to work with hubs (like my mp3 players)
will try a back port and report.

An update on my issue. I copied about 40GB to the drive today on the same USB2 port I was using before - same files even - and my speeds are averaging about 27MB/s whereas they were 5-6MB/s before. No driver updates or any changes. My guess is the bearings in the drive may have loosened up or something in the last few weeks. Happy to actually be able to use it now!

I don't know if this is THE solution, but I tried to copy 150GB to backup+ and it copied at the fantastic rate of 150MB/s.
I had a smaller problem of 4 times lower copy rate compared to my older and weeker XP x32 computer which I cannot explain (XP is with Gigabye GA-P35-DS3L and core 2 duo cpu). Speeds on XP USB2 were 20MB/s where on win7 USB2-3 reached only 4-5MB/s, except on one WD USB3 1TB external disk (red).
I compared the usb drivers and found the new addition to windows 7 of iusb3mon.exe which is odd since it is an intel driver I couldn't find on other win7 boards. Perhaps this one causes all the trouble be slowing the rate. I must try to kick it and see how everything works.
