Solved Can someone tell me how to sign out of office 2013, please?

This is driving me up the wall. I'm never going to use the program(s) but my teenager who is in high school wanted office. Now, he's only used office 2010 and may not know how to work this 2013 version. I wanted to get it installed for him before he got home and it went smoothly. But when I opened up powerpoint and signed into office it just won't let me sign him off. I go to file/account andthen click on sign off in powerpoint but the thing is asking me if i want to remove the account. All i want to do is simply sign out. I don't understand why it won't let me. And it's all of the office programs in 2013. No place at all where I can sign him out once he's singned in. Something just isn't right about that. Is like I'm hostage or something. Anyhow. If anyone knows what I'm missing, please help me out here. Thanks. I'm getting ready to throw this thing i'm so frustrated right now.

Wait a second. I just read that link tutorial. I have to use a reg file? There isn't just a setting in the program? Holy smokes. What the heck is that all about?

You have to edit your registry just to do something as simple as sign out? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

To be clear, if I don't do that then he's stuck with a permanant connection?
he has to stay logged onto microsoft's network 24/7 ?

i wouldnt panic, its not a social website, by logging into office you allow him to connect to his skydrive which will let him send saved items to his skydrive folders.
removing the account by signing out wont do any damage either it just means that if he had another computer ie a work computer at an office the two would no longer sync,
what work you save at the office you can open at home later, as he is at school it wont be a problem.
if he is unlikely to save his work to skydrive then sign out,if he would find it useful (i do ) then leave it signed in.

Hm. He sends a lot of recruiting video to colleges through skydrive. And does a heck of a lot with word, ppt and everything except for outlook. He just uses the web based mail.

Gosh, this whole cloud thing is changing the basic infrastructure of computing, huh? I don't like that concept of a constant connection. Am a product of a different generation of computing. That just doesn't even seem safe to me. Do you think there is any chance of a privacy invasion like that? Maybe a hijacking of information/data if I leave it the way it is and let him talk it over with whomever I get to train hiom on this new office program?

the beauty of skydrive is that you no longer worry about losing a flash drive with important papers on it,
plus you can share stuff easily by sending a link. it only links to the one file or folder you choose, not the entire skydrive.

Yeah, I was just looking at that. I see that it asks you to type out a specific directory. I'll have him take a look. Thanks for the help. I don't know that I'd want to work with it myself but for nine dollars we couldn't pass it up. Well, thirteen dollars with the disk in the mail.

One last question though, if you don't mind. Seeing as he can only sync up to directories on the actual laptop, how does he access and share the hundreds of videos and pictures that he already has on skydrive if they aren't technically on the laptop if it only syncs with the actual unit. I didn't see that it actually synced with what he already has on the web version of skydrive? He still has to sign into the web version of skydrive if he wants or needs to share that stuff?

I don't know if I like this version of office with the whole constant connection thing. Now that I've setup outlook for him and can't sign out of that by default either it seems like anyone can just click on the thing and get into his email too. Gosh, that's just crazy. If you open up outlook every bit of the email is wide open. People are actually ok with this?

i dont think many people password protect the office outlook on their pc, they usually have a user account logon password for that purpose.office outlook is not a webmail service.
