This is off the topic but it said RAM so i thought here is a s good a place as any.....

Can u put two sticks of RAM in with two different speeds?

Eg my motherboard can go up to DDR 2 1066MHZ or somthing like that. At the moment i am running 1x Transend 2GB at 800MHZ... I would like to put in my Transend 1GB at 533MHZ

Will it work? Is it worth it? Will it effect the performance?

And on a side note......

Is there much difference between in performance during games and boot up etc if i start to use DDR 2 at 1066MHZ as opposed to DDR2 at 800MHZ?

Thanks...

If the memories are compatible with your motherboard, all sticks will work at the lowest speed. In your case, 533 MHz.

That kind of depends, benchmarking apps will probably show a difference, but in real world apps I doubt that you will notice this difference.

There are a few things to consider, Timing, Voltages, and of course Speed. As been stated, the your overall RAM will run at the speed of the lower RAM, and timings.

However, you do need to try keep the voltages matched. Example: Your 800MHz stick of RAM is 2.1volts, while the 533 stick is 2.0 volts. Without a BIOS tweak of the memory voltage you're now overvolting the 533 stick, which could cause it to malfunction. On the other hand, undervolting the 800MHz stick could cause it to underperform, or in some cases, malfunction. However, of the two, I’d rather undervolt.

This is the quick and dirty explanation, and something to consider.

My two cents.

It's not a stick...it's a DIMM.

So i take it that it would be better not to? and just buy another 800MHZ RAM DIMM?
and do all 800MHZ RAM Sticks use the same voltage?

Short answer is yes you can do it: However I would not recommend doing it. 90% of the time when this is done you will have problems in the future. Memory is so cheap now-a-days it is better to have all memory the same, brand, speed and type (this is considered best practice). -WS

so you wouldnt recommend getting Esquire memory to work with my Transend memory?

There's no harm in trying, especially since the memory is compatible with the board. You'll know right away if there's an issue or not. However, call me paranoid if you want, but I don't ever buy my memory unless it is matched sticks. I also keep the same memory in the computer, even if I fill all four slots. To me, it is easier when buying the memory, and eliminates one variable down the road if the system I build is unstable.
