Can realy windows 7 damage an old pc? I'm saying heare about the boot process. When windows 7 start's up all the fans make an anoing noise until it enters in windows. And know I heard that somoane that instaled windows on a pc with only a 250W power source, afther he restarted the pc and tryed to enter windows, his power source start smooking. So why are the coolers starting soo fast at boot up, and it's the cooler from the power source or it's the cooler from the procesor?

Hi.

Short answer is no. The psu probably gave out from being only 250w and pushed to the max for too long over its life. Capacitors fail exponentially quicker when they are ran closer and closer to their ratings. Exceed the ratings and forget about it.

Here at SF, there have been tons of examples of ancient pcs working beautiful under 7. Ask Doc. I think he had some PIIs going on 7! :)
