Can you have libraries be default closed?

(New to W7 btw :)

You can make Libraries, and then put folders into it.

My question is: When I click on the library in the left pane in explorer, it lists all the contents in the right pane but they are all open, is there a way to have it default to closed sub folders?

Not sure I explained that well, so I'll try to illustrate it.

I make a library called MASTERLIBRARY, and it contains the folders SUBFOLDER1, SUBFOLDER2, SUBFOLDER3

Normally when I click on MASTERLIBRARY it looks like this:

SUBFOLDER1
File1
File2
File3
SUBFOLDER2
File1
File2
File3
SUBFOLDER3
File1
File2
File3

But I would like it to just display:
SUBFOLDER1
SUBFOLDER2
SUBFOLDER3

(In the right explorer pane, not the left)

Hello EpiCenter,

By default all included folders in a library will be displayed like your top example. This cannot be changed.

One way to workaround this is to right click in each SUBFOLDER (included folder) and click on New and Folder. Next, move all the files and folders in this new folder so that it will look like this instead below.

SUBFOLDER1 (included folder)
  • NEW FOLDER
    • File1
    • File2
    • File3
SUBFOLDER2 (included folder)
  • NEW FOLDER
    • File1
    • File2
    • File3
SUBFOLDER3 (included folder)
  • NEW FOLDER
    • File1
    • File2
    • File3
OR

SUBFOLDER1 (included folder)
  • NEW FOLDER
SUBFOLDER2 (included folder)
  • NEW FOLDER
SUBFOLDER3 (included folder)
  • NEW FOLDER
Hope this helps,
Shawn

Naa, that is too much bother - I'm not going to do workarounds, guess I'll just not use libraries.
Thanks for your reply.

I don't think I'm going to use those pre configured folders, for one thing they seem to be shared by everybody (never understood why microsoft does this) and they are full of werid stuff (folders and shortcuts to things i don't use etc etc)
