Hi,

Somtimes when the mouse is on the desk and something moves it ever so slightly, the computer wakes. Is there a way to change this setting so that you need to press the button?

I have another computer where you apparently need to "shake" the mouse for it to wake. Is this a function of the specific motherboard? Or is this a Windows 7 setting?

I don't think that's possible. Any data sent will wake up the PC. It doesn't actually read it to see what button was pushed only that a button press or movement has occurred.

There is a setting under device manager that you can change. But sometimes does nto work which you can try. Please follow these instructions:

When mouse is over computer in start menu - right click and select manage
Go to device manager in that window then
open expand mouse and other pointing device's
Right click on your mouse and select properties

I believe that depends on your hardware. I have one PC that works like that - moving the mouse will not wake from sleep, but clicking will. This optical mouse is not lit up while in sleep.

I have another PC that does not work like that - moving the mouse wakes the PC. That mouse stays lit up while in sleep.

All my power settings are the same on both PCs. Just different motherboards. There might be different BIOS setting options, but I have not checked.
