Can you tell me which SATA driver I need for dual boot?

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7.

I am trying to slip in SATA drivers in an XP disc to perform a dual boot into XP to run XP programs on my new computer.

Don't I need the drivers for my new computer? Not my old computer, right?

So I need the drivers for Windows 7 with a 500MB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive and Intel I-3 330m chip?

Where can I find them? Do I need the 32 bit drivers or the 64 bit drivers?

Or do I need drivers for Windows XP? If so, which drivers? Can I perform this task on my new laptop or does it have to be done on the old laptop? I'm very confused about how to slip in these drivers using nlite.

What are you trying to do? Why do you need XP (you really don't) - what application you trying to run?

I am trying to run Pro Tools LE 7.3 and Mbox2, it's music recording software. They don't have a version out for Windows 7 yet; besides, I just bought it only a couple of years ago and I don't want to go out and upgrade it.

I'm trying to install Pro Tools LE 7.3. I haven't tried it yet but everything I've read says it will not run on Windows 7.

I would have to ask two questions to tell if you might encounter special problems when adding XP to a dual boot.

Do you have the 100mb System Reserved Partition, and is your hard drive using the IDE or AHCI controller driver? To check the controller driver, go into the bios and check the Disk drives for IDE or AHCI.

If you have the 100 mb partition, you may have to put a letter on it or use the procedure Iseeuu suggests and make to XP partition active during the install.

If you are using the AHCI controller drivers, you will probably have to load them during the XP install using the F6 key and a floppy disk. Or you can slipstream them into the XP install CD. Which drivers you might need depends on you controller, but check the manufacturers web site for F6 floppy drivers or an AHCI driver.

If it fails to install, a Compatibility Wizard may pop up to offer to install in another OS mode. Accept this and try it again. Or rightclick on the .exe file and set the Compatibility tab on Properties to XP SP 2 or whatever was native mode for that program. Run as Admin.

This works for older software all the way back to Win98, although I have only needed it to Win2000. It also works for drivers and games. Make sure to run game in Compatibility mode as well as install that way.

Are any of these the 100MB Partition you are referring to?

Guys thanks for helping but everything I have read online says the software will not run on Windows 7. I'd kinda like to have a dual boot to XP anyway just in case.

I have read that tutorial - my questions I'm asking are from that tutorial. The tutorial says "Go find your drivers on Intel's website". Well, which drivers am I looking for? There are 3 options for Windows 7, and I don't even know if I'm looking for Windows 7 or Windows XP drivers. Do I use this computer or my old computer?

Use XP SATA controller drivers for the XP install's target computer.

It may be part of the chipset.

Best to find out the exact SATA controller (look in Device Manager) and Google it + SATA drivers to find the download link. Otherwise just load in the chipset drivers.
