Cannot access other PC on network

I have Win7 Pro 64 and I am trying to access an XP machine that is on the wireless network and when I click on that machine's name, I get a Windows Security box asking "Enter Network Password" and it has fields for User name and Password.

I've never seen this box before and I don't remember ever setting a password for the XP machine. I can access my Win7 laptop successfully.

How can I access the XP machine?

Try enabling simple file sharing on the XP machine or:

To allow network users to access without password
1-click Start > Run > and type gpedit.msc to run Group Policy
2- Go to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
3- In right panel, right click “Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console login only” and select properties and select Disable

Another option would be to simply set a password on your user account on your XP machine, and then authenticate that way.

Enter the User Name and Password for your Win 7 Administrator account.

There are 2 tutorials there, the second one has the options that need to be set in 7 to disable password protected sharing (which is the problem your running up against)

Thank you everyone for your help. I used roban's suggestion of file sharing on the XP machine - pretty simple.

The alternative of using gpedit did not work for me even though I rebooted and went back to the Group Policy and verified it was indeed disabled.
