Hello everyone.
Hopefully this is the correct section, I figured a monitor fell under the devices category.

So for a new position I was offered, I need to have my resolution be 1280x1024 or higher. I did the spec test for them and went to the control panel to double check and I am running at 1360x768. I figured I needed a new monitor but looked up the native resolution of the one im using and it's 1280x1024. And the video card I have (Geforce 260) is well above that. The monitor only has a vga input so I am using a dvi to vga adapter from the tower to the monitor. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or not seeing? Thank you very much.

Jeremy

VGA does not have a resolution limit as long as the monitor and graphics card supports the resolution. Also, DVI does have a limit but it is over 1280x1024. Is it that you don't know how to change the resolution? Then, please follow the tutorial below to change the resolution.

Edit: Also, 1360x768 and 1280x1024 are different aspect ratios. Are you currently seeing black lines on the top and bottom side of the screen? If you are, you should do the tutorial above to change the resolution to 1280x1024. If not, 1360x768 might be the highest possible and the info could be wrong. Can you maybe post the monitor model number and manufacturer?

It's at the max in the display settings brotha. I will check out that tutorial though. It's going video card -> dvi to vga converter -> vga cable -> monitor.
It's a Dell e196fpf. I don't see any black lines, either. For the position they told me that I needed vertical resolution of 1024 or higher. Thanks for the link too!
