Hello All

I am having an issue with my Windows 7 Home Premium on my Dell Studio 1737 laptop.

I started up my laptop about 2 hours ago and it stuck at my Bios loading screen.
I then restarted my laptop and this time it booted successfully. but a lot slower than usual.
Once it started I had NONE of my usual desktop shortcuts. in fact I have NO desktop shortcuts what so ever.

I do have the windows 7 side bar. that seems to display fine.

I know cannot Add or display any shortcuts on my desktop.

I am really unsure how or why this has happened. I am very careful about my online activity. So i am pretty sure it is not a Malware issue. But I am not positive it is not because of this reason.

I have ran sfc /scannow and this found NO integrity violations.

I have also ran Adaware and super ant spyware and Norton AV scanners.
These too found nothing.

I have also gone to right click on desktop=personalise=change desktop icons= restore defaults and also manualy tried to add desktop shortcuts back to mr desktop but this does not work.

I have also tried to drag various shortcuts from my start menu onto my desktop and this too did not work.

I also pressed ctrl=alt=del and started task manager and clicked file new task (run) and entered explorer.exe and clicked ok.

This too did NOT work

I am at a loss to why this has happened and also how I can fix this.

Is there anyone here who can help me rectify this issue ?

Any help is appreciated

Hello

Thank-you all for your reply's

I found out what is causing my issue.

It is SuperantiSpyware (Free) that for some resaon. Approximately 2 mins into a scan explorer.exe restarts and changes my desktop view settings to show desktop gadgets instead of show desktop icons.

To fix the issue I have to use the same proceedure you mentioned derekimo.
right click on desktop= view and re tick show desktop icons.

I am still unsure why SuperAntiSpyware has started causing me this problem.

I think I will post on thiere forum to see if i can find A quick fix.

Thank's again for your reply's
