My computer will not boot, no matter what I do.
I don't know what kind of information you need to try and help, but I'll give you the information I can think of. Let me know if you need anything else.

I have an Acer Aspire 5820T running Windows 7.
It brings me to the screen that says there was a problem with the start up and gives me the option to start it normally or run a start up repair. The regular boot obviously doesn't work - it just loops around and restarts and does the same thing. The start up repair doesn't work either - it loads files and then brings it to what looks like the default desktop background and doesn't move from there.

It doesn't work starting it up in any of the safe modes - it just loops around again and brings it back to the start up fail screen again. Starting it up at the last known working configuration does the same thing.

If I go for eRecovery, it brings up the screen and says "Please wait a moment." and just stays there indefinitely.

I have the repair discs, but when I start it up with those, it just brings me to the eRecovery, which still doesn't load....

I'm kind of at the end of my rope here. I've resorted to sending it in for repair, but I won't be able to do that until I'm home from vacation in a week. I was wondering if there was ANYTHING else I could try before then? I'm at a complete loss.

Hello theonewithkatie and welcome to Seven Forums.

Do you know if your Aspire has a hidden recovery partition? If yes you may be able to restore your machine to factory specs by using ALT+F10 at startup.

Ah yes, I've got that, but it brings me to eRecovery which doesn't ever load. Just sits there at "Please wait a moment" for... well... ever.

Hmm. Thanks, I'll take a look at it. I was mainly just wondering if there was anything I could do with what I have, as it's under warranty and I can have it fixed... I just can't send it in for another week or so as I'm out of town and of course there's the whole wait with shipping back and forth plus it being repaired...
