OK, theres a desperate way of doing it. While your computer is running, press the power button long enough so the computer powers off. Now power on the computer again, it should give you a screen saying Windows did not shut down properly and will give you several options to boot into including safe mode.

I am experiencing this exact same issue. I have a fresh install of windows 7 from Microsoft's website to evaluate some driver issues with windows 7. The computer works in normal operation but attempting to boot into safe mode ALWAYS causes the computer to reboot at the windows screen with the loading circle just before its about to start. This is a problem as I can not attempt a driver install in safe mode to troubleshoot a driver problem from the very get go simply because windows 7 will not boot into safe mode.(again this is a new installation with just the basic drivers installed for mobo and other computer PCI slot hardware) Any help with this issue (not instructing me how to boot into safe mode) will be appreciated.

As a last resort before reinstalling, try a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

Make sure you have latest BIOS update.

Went to Asus Website. Got 1010 version bios(latest non beta) No go still won't boot in safe mode only starts up in normal mode. Gets to welcome screen and looks like windows is JUST about to show the windows safe mode shell and then BAM reboots. The computer is really really old. It might just not be completely compatable with the OS. On the plus side I solved the driver issue I was working on without needing to use safe mode. Still puzzles me though why it won't work in that mode.

I notice that this only happens with windows 7 enterprise but works fine with the normal version of windows 7.

Unfortunately for a Pc that is infected with Malware the exec files are corrupted so its not possible to use msconfig etc. So how do we get to Advance Boot Options?
The whole purpose of booting in safe mode to prevent the malware doing any further damage, so why is it so hard to enter Safe Mode before getting to the Windows splash screen?
Any help appreciated. It appears that something known as Live Security Platinum has taken control of my PC
Thanks,
K
