Solved Cannot complete Repair Install after loop of startup repairs

Having been sent new memory by OEM to fix BSOD that was def. mem. based per memtest86 got unbreakable loop of Startup Repair fails. Tried the advice on repair install tutorial but get to step 11. Then the compatability report says that I have used the installation disc and to take it out and restart - which I can't because the system cannot boot!!! Tried restore from image but system won't see the ext. HDD it is on and last 5 restore points all fail to complete.

Hope I'm not at the send it back to the OEM stage
