Cannot connect printer to new Network or Homegroup

I had my computer at my home, connected to my home network. I moved to a Corporate apartment, which has a different network, and now I can't print to my printer, which I brought with me.

I did set the new network as my 'home' network, and folowed instructions, but it does not seem to be working.

THe printer is a C6280 Photosmart, and is wireless enabled, but my new place doesn't have a router to attach to.

Basically, I'd just like to connect the printer directly to my computer, since I will be the only one printing to it.

Can someone please help?

Thanks.

Connect it via USB instead of Ethernet if you are the only one who will be using it.

I do have the usb cables attached, but that isn't working either. If I look at the printer devices, I can see it, and have it set to the default, but it just won't print.

I unchecked the box to take the printer out of the homegroup also, but that didn't help.

Also, I tried to set it up as a local printer, but there is no USB choice available, just LPT1, 2, 3 or COM1, 2, 3.

Thanks

Never mind - DUH! I am using the ethernet cable -

However, I don't see an actual USB connection on the printer itself. There is something that has a symbol with 3 prongs coming out-it's a little square port, but no actual USB connection.

Sorry for the confusion.

If your printer has a cdrom that came with it. You can connect the printer to your company network and if your company uses dhcp, then when you run the program on the cdrom, it will ask you how it is attached. respond that it is network wired, If it has a wired network cable. The program should find it by it's network interface card address and then allow you to set the access to it. It should be fine.

Give it a shot, You might have to download a newer copy of the installation software from the manufacturer.

If it has USB capability, Always run the software install first and then when it tells you, plug in the usb cable to your computer. If you already have the software on your computer, it works better to uninstall it first.

two ways to do it.
