Cannot Copy and Paste

OK Here is my situation...

Hard drive crashed and had to get back up and running ASAP so I took computer to Best Buy for Geek Squad to repair same. I did not have System Disks but they managed to reinstall my OS (Windows 7 64 bit) along with all of my drivers - the computer is a Dell Inspiron.

Everything is running good except one of the programs I use on a normal basis. It is an HTML Editor called Coffee Cup and I noticed I had lost the ability to copy and paste in it (which is vital)

The copy function appears to be working but it will not paste (nothing happens) At first it seemed to only affect this program but then I noticed that it also was happening on another program when I was re-installing it yesterday and I tried to copy and paste my registration license key and nothing would happen.

The weird thing is I can copy and paste fine in notepad and word - thats how I confirmed the copy function is working because when it would not paste in the Coffee Cup Program I opened up word and did a paste and it worked.

Tried some trouble shotting.... contacted Coffee Cup Programmers (They are stumped) - did a re-install of the coffee cup program (didnt work). Then I tried to trouble shoot and see what was causing the problem. I noticed that whenever I opened my Firefox browser window the problem happened. If I closed Firefox then it would begin pasting again. I uninstalled firefox and tried again but this time while having Internet Explorer open (V10) and it happened again.

So the copy and paste seems to stop working whenever I open a browser window.

Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

Also just to add on..... closing the browser does not always seems to fix it..... sometimes I have to initiate a restart of the PC

Hi there .. Do not know if you have seen this or not .. To be honest i don't know a lot about your Software but found this thread on their Forum ..

Read that thread over and did not seem to be the same problem as me.... that person looked like they didnt know how to copy and paste. My problem is the copy and paste function will not work at least if I have a Internet Browser window open.

Like I said before it doesnt seem to just be this one program. Happened yesterday with another program when i tried to copy and paste my license key to register the software. Click past and nothing happens at all.

Try to open command prompt as an administrator and type the following: sfc /scannow
See if it finds any errors.

Also, are you running Webroot SecureAnywhere?

Just ran scannow - no errors found

Yes webroot Secure anywhere is running

Was installed by Geek Squad

Webroot Secure is most likely causing the problem, here is what might fix it:

Open Webroot
Go to the Identity & Privacy tab
Click on the Identity Shield and toggle it OFF

Tell me if it works

THAT DID IT !

Just tried a copy and paste and it would not work.... turned off the identity shield and still had my HTML editor open and did a copy and paste and it worked

Sorry to bring up this post again but after hours of searching and calling the company that made my software this helped me with one of the applications that I regularly use at work. I couldn't copy and paste across some applications and it turned out to be webroot that my computer guy installed after reinstalling windows.
