I have been trying to create a backup on win 7 pro 64 bit to an external hard drive with 365 G of free space. However, the backup starts, I see a little movement in bar charting progress but then it eventually tells me backup failed due to shadow copy creation timing out.

Not sure what to do, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

Can you manually create a system restore point?

Thanks, I checked the discussion link you provided and changed the two shadow related items in services from manual to automatic, rebooted and then a backup was able to be created.

Thanks, again.
