Cannot find a better version of an old game-looking for suggestions

Ok, so this is sort of like a long shot.

I really like this old Real time strategy game called real war rogue states.

Google images gives you a better idea about what it is all about.

It is a war simulation game. 2 sides against one another. Land, air, sea and infantry units can be all micromanaged. Units can be managed one at a time or a group. Units are built from buildings, and all the weapons and units are from modern times.

Units can be prebuilt and chosen to attack items once they are built.

Supply stations are critical needed of the game.

You build units with supplies.



Anyways, long story short. I am trying to find a game that is similar to this one with updated graphics. This game is from 2002, so anything is an improvement, even an older game. Graphics don't matter to me to much, I am fine with this game now in terms of graphics to give you an idea. This game in my opinion is great but it failed to get good reviews. The AI are particularly dumb. Still, I really like this game despite its flaws.

I have tried suggestions like civilization and google searched some and was not able to find a game that is like this one. My problem with newer games is they are all about magic and stupid stuff like that. A lot of them also only allow you to use units in groups, etc.


If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Does it have to be modern military Andrew? Looking at the screenshots I think you'd like Age of Empires II HD.

That is what I was hoping for yes. I don't understand why it is so hard to find a good military rts. You would think it would be fairly popular....sigh*

I forgot to mention I do like age of empires! Thank you.

I might get it again as it is on sale on steam. HD edition. I have the old win 98 version.

Man, do PC games not have demos anymore? I cannot find demos on these game anywhere.....

How am I supposed to know if I like it if I cannot demo it?

My Sony ps3 console lets me demo almost all games.......

No demos on PC since most released things are unfinished so any sane person after playing demo would not buy it so no demos.

No idea if you would like this game but it's good rts game with good story and 2d graphics.

Title Orginal War. It's one of a kind game in my opinion just cheak youtube for videos.

Edit: Emperor: Battle for Dune is very good. Did you try any of Paradox titles like Hearts of Irons or Europa Universalis?

If you want a true spiritual successor, which is currently being worked on.

Try Planetary Annihalation

Old style games, You could try Earth 2142, C&C red alert, Tiberium or even the Age of games.

If you don't mind WWII, The company of heroes series is solid.

There's even a demo available on steam for the original.
