Cannot get laptop and Bluetooth speaker to detect each other

Hi, I've joined this forum in the hope that some kind person / people can help me with my Bluetooth problem. I have seen posts on this forum by people with similar issues to mine, but the suggested solutions don't seem to apply to my problem, and also I don't want to risk being seen as hijacking someone else's thread.

I recently bought a brand-new Betron cube speaker, but I cannot get a Bluetooth connection at all. Putting the speaker into Bluetooth mode is simplicity itself, but I don't know how to begin to get my laptop to detect and connect to the device - being Bluetooth-enabled, I would have thought that it would happen automatically.

I'm not very technically-savvy (as you can probably tell), but I did a bit of delving and found a list of devices with yellow exclamation marks beside them, however I could not update them. Sorry for the vagueness, I've been going round in circles trying to fix this problem, getting more frustrated all the time that something that should be so simple and effortless is proving impossible.

If anybody is willing to take me through possible remedies step-by-step, I'd be very grateful. Naturally, I'd be happy to provide whatever specific technical info is needed (although I may need further instruction on how to locate and post such info). I'm aware that this post gives any prospective helper virtually no useful information, I just wanted to ask if somebody would be kind enough to assist me first.

Thanks in anticipation of any helpful replies!

Thanks for the reply, DealerMan, it's appreciated. I ended up downloading over 30 driver updates and downloads - not even sure what most of them were, but since the page you linked to put them forward (after clicking 'Guide Me') I thought I may as well!

I now have some Bluetooth stuff (sorry to be technical) under 'Network Adapters' in Device Manager. Under 'Other devices' I only have two 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device' - nothing else (there were around 20 devices before) - although they still have yellow '!'s by them.

Unfortunately, I can't say whether the fix has worked or not, as I returned the speaker before you posted your reply. I'll have to borrow someone else's and try it. The presence of some Bluetooth software in Device Manager gives me some hope that it'll work now, and I'll post here again once I've given it a go.

Whether it does or not, thank you again for responding.

It's my pleasure! If you're able to borrow a speaker, let us know how it turns out. I'll be on the lookout for an update...

Good Luck!
