Hey guys, I posted this same question in another forum 3 weeks ago and no one responded but I saw a few similar threads here (none of which solved my problem :() and thought maybe you guys could help me out. I have 3 HDD's in my desktop computer but only one is used for an OS (the other 2 are just storage) and only ever 1 OS at a time, no multibooting for me. Back when the Windows 7 Beta came out I completely wiped the hard drive and installed the 64-bit beta on it. Since then, I have installed builds 7057, 7077, and 7100 (all 64-bit) on it using the Upgrade option and some times deleting the partition and formatting a new one and it has never started up using the Windows 7 boot screen, instead it always starts up using the old Vista boot screen. I have installed the same versions of Windows 7 on 2 other desktops and 2 other laptops in my household and all of them have a working Windows 7 boot screen. All but 1 laptop were installed using a clean install but the 1 laptop was upgraded. I have tried the standard fixes using bcdboot and bceedit but neither worked and both are for fixing the boot screen when it REVERTS back to Vista whereas I've never seen the Windows 7 boot screen on this copmuter. Here are the specs of the system that won't display the proper boot screen:

EDIT: Didn't realize I could put my complete specs in my profile...

Thanks for any help!

Hi bikeracer, welcome to the forums.

If you have no data that you wish to keep then a clean install may be 1 option.

You might also want to try http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/11273-install-windows-7-safe-mode.html and see what happens. As you are getting no boot screen i'm going to assume that there may be something wrong with the GFX driver during the upgrade.
   Note

Hope this helps :)

Sorry, I should have elaborated. I AM getting a boot screen but it's the Windows Vista boot screen not the Windows 7 screen. Also, I've tried a clean install several times, including with the latest 7100 build, I've also tried reformatting the hard drive during each of the clean installs, just in case.

Ah, no problem. That can sometimes happen with upgrades, if you open the elevated command prompt, type cmd into the start menu search & right-click cmd and select 'Run as administrator'. If you run sfc /scannow it will scan your system files and fix any issues with them.
   Note
It can take some time but has worked 99% of the time

Hope this helps :)
