Solved Cannot install PS/2 Touchpad driver from microsoft update

Have a Toshiba L300 upgrated from Vista to W7 lost use of synaptics touchpad cannot instal driver, please help.

Have you gone to the Toshiba website and looked for the Windows 7 driver for the touchpad?

Hi, thank you for quickly replying, Toshiba does not provide a Touchpad driver for this model that I can find on their support site.

the details;
Toshiba L300 PSL B0E-147
W7 Home Premium, 64Bit,
Intel pentium dual CPU [email protected],
2GB RAM

Have you tried the Vista driver? Sometimes the Vista driver will work in Windows 7.

Be sure to get the 64-bit version.

tried all this anyway, No Vista drivers listed.

No Vista drivers listed.

Try the 32-bit Vista driver. They do have that one listed on the Toshiba UK website. A 32-bit driver will work in 64-bit Windows, but not the other way around.

Thank you, I have tried it regrettably does not work.
I keep getting code 24, in the properties section there is no events section, I am at a loss, it says this device is not working, it may not have all its drivers installed. I have scanned for hardware changes but nothing comes up, any ideas at all.

Can you please post the Hardware ID character string value from Device Manager -> Properties -> Details tab, Hardware ID value.

Hi, Merry Christmas to you, thank you the Hardware ids is as follows ACPI/SYN 1913 *SYN 1913, does this help in any way.

Does the 18.1.3.0 driver from this page work?

There's also a newer 19.0.14.32 version available from this page.

I can't vouch for either, but it does look like it might be the Synaptics TouchPad driver for your device.

Hi, thank you for this information, and apologies for late reply, I have down loaded driver 18.1.3.0 and installed it but I still cannot get the touchpad to work, keeps showing a yellow triangled exclamation symbol against the synaptics PS/2 entry in DM. The Fn F9 enable/disable key does not appear to change anything even though it shows up as enabled.
I have just about tried everything, but no joy, what is going wrong, is there a possibility of physical damage to the PS/2 module, hardware damage runs in DM show nothing. Please help.
