"Cannot install required files" -- Tried everything

Hi guys, I'm trying to install the 32 bit version of 7 on my toshiba m700. For the past half year or so, I ran the RC just fine with no trouble. Then all of a sudden, my computer shut off and when I would turn it on I got a disk read error. The ITS department at my school reimaged the computer with XP, and it worked. Since then, I've tried to reinstall 7 doing a clean install, but everytime the computer says "cannot install requiered files.". I'm certain the iso is not corrupt: I've tried a cracked version, the enterprise trial, and the iso I downloaded for $30 with the student discount. I've tried burning a DVD and booting off a flash drive multiple times. Every rime I get the same error. I have 1 hard drive and 1 DVD drive attached; I don't know what kind they are. I also heard that removing ram may solve my problem, I'm wary of doing that because it may void my warrenty and then my school's ITS department may not service my computer anymore: they don't like me running 7 in the first place. I ran the RC fine, why can't I install the real version? If all else fails, I could reinstall xp, which does install without errors. I'd really appreciate the help.

When exactly does it throw up the error? What is the exact wording?

Try running the Win7 installer from the Xp desktop, if you haven't done so already.

If you ran cracks on that HD, then you may need to use DBAN to nuke the HD for the deepest clean.

Then try booting the WIn7 installer for custom install again.

Boot into BIOS settings and see what the SATA controller setting is. Try AHCI first.

Do you have another laptop? Sometimes rather than spending days of frustrating endless troubleshooting, someone who is tech savvy can just snap the HD into another laptop and install there, then return to your machine to enjoy the show as it swaps out all the drivers, requesting restarts. It has worked a dozen times for me.

If you do this, wait to activate until you get it back into the old machine and reaclimated to the hardware there.

Well, you have the upgrade disk yes? Install XP first, and then upgrade. Congratz, its almost like a fresh install since there was nothing in XP

I'm going to nuke it, then try to reinstall. If that doesn't work, I'm going to put on xp and install using the downloaded exe. Could it be missing drivers when I install? Also, are the RC and retail versions different enough that I could run one and not the other?

Coolness, I bought the OS from digitalriver so I would receive a student discount. I don't have the retail disk; I downloaded the iso from their website.

I would verify the DVD burn: Install ImgBurn, select Verify disk, load in ISO to make sure it says "bootable" in text at left, then insert DVD and click verify button. View attachment 44183

Use Hashtab to verify the HASH against the official HASH to confirm the download.

If it will not install from boot after changing SATA controller to AHCI in BIOS setup, I suggest you reinstall the RC to try running the installer from there instead of XP. This will tell you if Win7 can still be installed.

If the installer won't run from RC then do an-inplace Upgrade to get it installed as last resort. It is not recommended by MS but many here have done it successfully with no performance issues. You need to use the workaround given here with special attention to the last part about RC.
