Cannot install Windows 7

I think somehow the install got directed to that small partition, which would explain why it is marked active and then aborts with partition error.

Either that or the fact that C: isnt' marked active is aborting it to C:.

Either way, he can fix that with gparted

I downloaded the file, then it downloaded the rest of the files, so now I have install .exe file, the setup1.box, setup2.box, and the expandedSetup folder. I was just running it from the desktop, so there is no possible burn error in this case (at least not yet, haha)

That's good we eliminated the burn error.

Try gregrocker's suggestion, move the active flag.

Sorry for the delays in reporting back. I searched my apartment high & low for a blank CD or DVD and couldn't find any, so I had to run to Wal-Mart to get some DVD-RWs

Now with GParted, I noticed its Linux based. When I burn the .iso, is it going to give me Windows files or Linux files?

I'm about to toss my laptop out my window (don't worry, I'm ground level). I can't get GParted to work. Couldn't get anything done in Easeus. Can't reformat anything in Disk Management. And I can't really accomplish anything in diskpart.exe. Not to mention Dell's PCRestore.exe won't work for me. And no matter how many times I try, I can't get the option for a factory restore (with the disk) going through the F8 or F12 boot option. This is frustrating as hell

EDIT: Well it turns out diskpart.exe may have worked after all. Managed to switch C: back to the only active drive, and sure enough it let me do a clean install without the partition error
