Solved Cannot install Windows Update KB2972211 - Error Code 80073712

Hi all,

I am having a problem installing the above update. It will download to 11% and then instantly fails, never getting to the Installation phase. I have no problems downloading or installing any other updates.

I have run the System Readiness Tool

sfc/scannow reports some corrupted system files that it cannot fix

I've restarted several times with no change

I have not been able to attach the CBS log as when I try to upload it I get an error.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I've uploaded a file - ae2aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder ae2aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Manifests)

Copy the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Hi Noel,

I am having some trouble finding the above folder. While I have a Temp folder in C:/Windows, all it has in is an XML file named "unattend"

Any ideas?
