And for your Contact List Problem use this :
Open your Microsoft Outlook software and allow the program to fully load and check for new messages. Once the program has fully loaded, drag all the items in Outlook that contain relevant contactinformation and place them all into the folder marked "Contacts," on the left-hand side of the screen.
2 Allow the program's automatic duplicate detection system to determine if you have any duplicate contacts in your "Contacts" folder. If a message comes on screen asking if you would like to merge contact information from two pieces of data with the same information, click "Yes" and it will consolidate the contacts into one folder. Repeat this process until all your duplicate contacts are merged into one folder.
3 Select the option marked "Table View" to see your contacts in descending order according to the last time they were edited. Select all the contacts that were just modified in the previous step, right click the mouse and choose the option marked "Category." Add a category name that fits with the contacts that are present in this folder and click "OK." Your folder is now complete and your contacts are merged into one list.

I'm with t-4-2. Yahoo! mail allows you POP access only if you pay them. If you want to risk it (and I wouldn't), use Ypops!. But I feel better safe than sorry.
thanks all for your input especially xhazard for the long detailed response. i agree w/ t-4-2 & thekb, it is not worth it. disappointing but i am not going to shell out $20 for simply having my yahoo mail to outlook. i will switch to gmail.

It's too late for this user I'm sure but I wouldn't be so quick to change email services rather than upgrading your YahooMail for Outlook 2010. I agree that the fact that you have to pay $20/year is annoying, however you need to consider the value of your time and your established email address too. If you've had your YahooMail email address for a while, there is a lot of work associated with switching to Gmail (or any other service). How much time and hassle is it going to cost you to switch over? How much is your time worth in dollars? If you place any significant value on your time, it isn't hard to justify keeping your Yahoo Mail address and forking over the $20. Likewise the aggravation of switching everything to a new email address (you can keep your existing Yahoo Mail address when you upgrade to Mail Plus).
I've used my Yahoo email account for years and switching to a new service would be a huge headache. So I pay the money each year and consider it money well spent. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
This link will show you exactly how to make your YahooMail and Outlook 2010 work together, including how to upgrade to Mail Plus.
