Hello,
I am running Win7 X64 bit OS. When I "click" on the CyberLink PowerDVD 12 Pro desktop icon nothing happens. This program was working until I incountered a small problem and was advised to uninstall the program and then re-install it. It did re-install but as mentioned in my opening statement the program will not open. All my other desktop icons open their respective programs. Hopefully you can help me? Thank you.

Right click the icon and check the target destination. Is it correct? You can, also, delete the icon, if it is a shortcut, and recreate it to see if that solves the problem.

Sir George,
Thanks for your reply. The target seems okay?: Cyberlink\PowerDVD12\PDVD Launch Policy.exe. I'm not sure that is the correct target or not. I am not that familiar with the product. Deleting the icon doesn't seem to do anything for me either.

How are you currently starting the program? Whatever executable, the file with an ".exe" extension, starts the program is the one the shortcut should be accessing in its path. As a test, try pinning the executable to the taskbar and see if it works.

sounds like a registry issue you should run a disk check if it has some error's ussually that will help and a re install might be in order as well after you correct the error's on the disk

Delete your current shortcut. In your search tab, type, Cyberlink. When you see the program come up, right click on it and select "open containing folder". After doing so, find the Cyberlink.exe file, right click, select create shortcut. Drag and drop the shortcut to your desktop and try to start.

"PDVD Launch Policy.exe" is the correct exe.

I would try running "PDVD Launch Policy.exe" from Explorer first then if it does not run check Task Manager to see if the exe is loaded. There might be a different issue than just the shortcut.

You may not uninstall the program completely. Although you click the uninstall icon to uninstall the program, there still mightbe some files left. You have to clear them manually. After that, reinstall.

On your desktop, the icon of PowerDVD may still exist, you'd better delete it either. Create a new icon for PowerDVD from the folder of the program, right click the exe. file, select create shortcut to desktop. When you double click the PowerDVD shortcut on the desktop, you can open the program.
