Have just built a new PC. I have a non-RAID SSD as my boot-up drive.

Then 2 x 2000Gb drives in RAID Mirror formation for my data.
On that arrary is a partition where I store my software downloads. Some of them I can click on an launch (not many though) and more will not respond to a double click at all.
I thought it was an .exe files association issue.

I checked for Malware and did a virus scan and all is ok.

Even a .reg file wouldn't execute.

Now here is the funny thing. If I right-click on any of those exe's that won't run and choose Run As Administrator, then they will work. (I am an Administrator on my user profile).

Also if I copy any of those exe's to my non-RAID boot drive, I can double-click to launch as normal.

I'm stuck :)

Right click on one of the files that won't execute and see if it is "blocked" by the operating system. You may have to unblock it before it will execute.

Brilliant ! That's what it was. It was saying that the files had come from a different computer (in this case my previous PC) and were blocked to help protect the computer.

Thanks so much Mellon Head I was really scratching my head over that one. I didn't even notice the Unblock button as I am not used to seeing it.

Phew!

EDIT: As an addendum to this, I solved the problem of manually having to do this to all my executables by using a command line program called Streams which is part of the Systernals Suite.
I simply typed streams -s -d (folder name) and it fixed all the files.
