Solved Cannot open program from icon

I use Windows7 64 bit on a Dell.

When I double click on a desktop icon, it just hangs. I have to do a ctrl-alt-delete to bring up task manager in order to get the program to open, which it then does open. How do I get around this???

Download the registry entries for .exe and .lnk, merge those and see it it works or not.

How do you do that?? How do you download registry entries and how do you merge them???
