I did a fresh install of Windows 8 on the exact same PC, and I am able to ping an IPv6 address.. On a fresh Windows 7 install, I cannot ping an IPv6 server, I always get "Request timed out."

However on Windows 8, after a while that I've booted up my PC, I can no longer ping IPv6 servers.. It just goes out randomly, but it least work sometimes on Windows 8, never on Windows 7.

Anybody know what different IPv6 configurations Windows 8 has over Windows 7?

Did you change your router or move to another network?

same network, same router, same pc.. same everything but the OS

what's funny is that i can currently ping google's ipv6 server on my laptop running windows 8, but not my desktop running windows 7:

i would just use windows 8, but with windows 8 i have problems with the OS loading the wrong network driver, and getting 100% disk usage when dealing with large mpeg2 files, so that's why i'm back on windows 7...

i'm kinda stuck with windows 7, but i prefer it over windows 8 anyways ... it's just that this ipv6 thing is giving me headaches...

also tried running these commands and it doesn't work!

netsh interface ipv6 set global randomizeidentifiers=disabled

netsh interface ipv6 set privacy state=disabled store=active
netsh interface ipv6 set privacy state=disabled store=persistent
netsh interface ipv6 set global randomizeidentifiers=disabled store=active
netsh interface ipv6 set global randomizeidentifiers=disabled store=persistent

damn you Microsoft!!! :cry::cry::cry:

yes i cant ping to this either. try using the the ipv6 addres 2a00:1450:400c:c06::63 instead of the name. Ipv6 isn't really up to much and running so its kind of hard to go by it working probably. But strange that it's working with windows 8 and not windows 7. Try the Address instead of the name.
