I have a micro SD card that is corrupted and windows will not let me open it and insists it needs formatting.
However I have some valuable images on there I really could do with accessing.
Any ideas?

Some card manufacturers (such as Sandisk) provide their own recovery software, however the SD media is never that robust, (Pro DSLRs are often fitted with dual card slots for this reason), I'm not sure if consumer recovery options such as Recuva will work on SD cards, (likely to be dependent on the original format type), there may also be professional recovery options but this is usually very expensive

From the error message you had posted, I presume that your MicroSD card appears with a drive letter G. Check it again in Windows Disk Management.. Does it have a drive letter? Does it show as RAW?

I am also assuming that last time you used it it was accessible on your PC.

If the answers are "yes", then

Run checkdisk from command prompt.

Open Command prompt. Start > All programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

Type
CHKDSK K: /f /v /r /x Press enter. Note: Replace K: with the actual drive letter of the MicroSD card. Also note that there is a space between each switch/option before /.

Allow checkdisk to complete. ( Do not for any reason abort checkdisk in the middle. Allow it to complete even if it takes hours and hours. During the checkdisk run do not use your PC for any other task. Strictly no multitasking)

Hi
Yes G: shows as RAW
However on trying CHKDSK I get "CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives"

I suspect it may be a lost cause, the disk is listed as 32MB when in fact it is 32GB

"I suspect it may be a lost cause,........"

I have to concede. Since it had a drive letter, I had some hopes but belied. As Barman58 stated check whether the card manufacturer has any recovery software for the flash drives.
