Cannot remove files

Hi All

I downloaded a file recently and tried to move it to a formatted DVD as I tidied up a number of files I wanted to secure onto DVD and remove from my pc.

Most allow me to do this but some do not because they require administrator's permission. (All I am doing is Ctrl-x, and Ctrl-C onto dvd).

Since I am an administrator I click on ok, but I simply cannot move the file.

If I check the permissions and click on Security tab it says I must be an administrative user with permissions to view the security privelages (which I should be) so I click ok. I can see the advanced security settings for the file and the Owner says 'unable to display current owner'. I can see me as an administrator and me as a user but whichever I select to make a new owner returns an error message Unable to set owner on file 'name' Access denied.

Is there a solution to this please

thanks

george

You need to Take Ownership of the files, then delete them..

just a quick after note.

Most files I can take ownership, but some do not change - the dos box displays so quickly I cannot check what message it gives.

Is there any way I can find what went wrong - ie what the residual problem is

thanks
