Cannot restore text appearance after using diagnostic memory

Using Professional 64 bit.
I repaired word and restored but to no avail. I then used memory diagnostic tool. It worked.

My problem.
Despite a reasonable looking task bar in Word except the colour, the typeset is thin and unreadable in some docs. However it prints ok.
I have done some research but arranging a funeral etc and would like to fix it asap. I have done all the usual customisations such as going through preferred text, displays colours etc but only got an improvement in task bar. It affects my other programmes that use word.

I use classic. I know it is old fashioned but I still want it. Everything is running as it should in classic except Word and I don't know why the colour wouldn't change either. The screen also goes black when I go in and out of word - just for a second or two.
Can anyone help please? Note there is a time difference so a suggestion then a question would be useful.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
Run these in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs – you can leave out the /r switch in ckdsk if you feel it not necessary
NB SFC best run for about three scans

Hello Gary

Since then I have worked with Windows and even they had trouble. Everything is fine is so far as that problem goes but the text and toolbars were fixed have reverted to larger size. They did have trouble but keeping it like this as ok..
I have had a family tragedy so checking my emails for the last time for a while so I will keep this but close the topic.
