Cannot run most programs.

Hey guys,

I am getting this error;

C:\Program Files(x86)\namehere\name.exe
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

This error just occurred last night, and is happening for over 50% of my currently installed programs and newly installed.

I figure it is from the W32.Shadesrat worm that I managed to erase. But idk what exactly it has done to my system.

If anybody has any idea how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated!

Just got this error while trying to remove a program with Absolute Uninstaller (because I cannot go to my program list from control panel)

Unsupported 16-bit Application
The program or feature "\??\C:\Program Files (x86)\TOSHIBA Games\Uninstall.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity (<- notice the WRONG spelling :sarc with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.

Yes, this happens for all programs I attempt to remove.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and save it to a convenient location.

1. Right click on mbam-setup.exe and select Run as administrator
2. Before clicking the Finish button, make sure that these 2 boxes are checked (ticked):
   • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
     Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
3. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will now check for updates. If your firewall prompts, please allow it. If you can't update it, select the Update tab. Under Update Mirror, select one of the websites and click on Check for Updates.
4. Select the Scanner tab. Click on Perform full scan, then click on Scan.
5. Leave the default options as it is and click on Start Scan.
6. When done, you will be prompted. Click OK, then click on Show Results.
7. Check (tick) all items except items in the C:\System Volume Information folder and click on Remove Selected.
8. After it has removed the items, Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply. You can also find the log in the Logs tab. The bottom most log is the latest.

If you are unable to run the program in Normal Mode, please try Safe Mode

Yeah did that, I cannot run that program.

Keep getting runtime errors not allowing the program to open although it is installed.

"W32.Shadesrat is a worm that attempts to spread through instant messaging applications and file-sharing programs. It also opens a back door on the compromised computer"

Backdoor Trojans are the most dangerous and most widespread type of Trojan. Backdoor Trojans provide the author or "master" of the Trojan with remote "administration" of victim machines. Unlike legitimate remote administration utilities, they install, launch and run invisibly, without the consent or knowledge of the user. Once installed, backdoor Trojans can be instructed to send, receive, execute and delete files, harvest confidential data from the computer, log activity on the computer and more.

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Your best and safest course of action is a reformat and reinstallation of the Windows operating system.

In short, your system may never regain its former stability or its full functionality without a reformat.
