Cannot start Power service, error 127

Hi,

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and one morning, my audio stopped working. I discovered audio stopped working because the Windows Audio Service, which relied on the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service, which relied on the Power service, all stopped working.

So to solve my audio problems, I must first start the Power service.

However when I try to start it, it gives the following message:

Windows could not start the Power service on Local Computer.
Error 127: The specified procedure could not be found.

Could someone please help me solve this issue.

Services Won't Start

A corrupt file in the winmgt can cause a service or Services not to start. This could be your problem. I'll upload a txt file that you can edit the text out at the end and save it as a bat file. Run it at an elevated command prompt and it should remove some old cat files that might be the problem. On a reboot the cat's will be recreated. I have a more detailed solution that does the same thing I will look for it also. I have forgot where I got these files but I think it was from the forum.

Services Won't Start

This PDF refers to the event log service but it applies to starting all services. Read thru it. It will accomplish the same thing as the bat file previously posted. I have never used the bat file I followed this PDF and had success.
