Cannot stream pictures on Dreamscreen from WHS

I've been fighting this problem for months. Have a new HP Dreamscreen which is just awesome, except that I can't view slideshows that are on Windows Home Server. Streaming works fine from Windows PCs, and I can see the photos displayed just fine on the Dreamscreen, but when I try to start the slideshow I get "Streaming file is not available."

Streaming videos and streaming music work fine, it's only the photos that doesn't work. Support for the Dreamscreen from HP is non-existent and I'm a neophyte when it comes to streaming.

Ideas anyone?

I have never seen a HP Dreamscreen let alone used one but it appears you are not alone in your disappointment. See here:

The Windows Vista operating system requires that streaming occurs over a secure "private" network. If your network is "public" you can change it to "private" by following these steps:

1. Click Start
   
   , Network and then click Network and Sharing Center .

2. If your network is Public, then click Customize .
   Figure 2: Network type (Public) and Customize link
   
   
   
   
3. In the Customize screen, change your network to private.
   You should now be able to stream media to your HP DreamScreen.

Thanks mitchell65. Scanned the internet previously but these two articles are good info. Bad news, but at least I can stop banging my head on the wall trying to get it to work.

Another example of a great concept implemented by an inept organization. HP has gone from the best to worst in almost every product and category of service. I've worked with them as user in a major business, as a vendor supplying services, working with a major chip manufacturer and supplier to them, and had a son working there so I have a lot of history. The company has literally crumbled from the inside out and is totally incompetent.

Always disappointing when you pay out good money for goods only to find that they do not come up to expectations. I doubt an actual letter sent recorded delivery to the MD of HP will have any effect but it might make you feel better!
