Cannot zip a folder

I can not zip a folder on Windows 7 64bit OS. I have downloaded Zip7 and also tried using a line in cmd.

Is there a setting I've changed that won't allow a folder to zip?

When I try to zip a folder now it shows:

Type of file: 7Z File (.7z)
Opens with: Windows Shell Common Dll

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello, welcome to Sevenforums!

Seems kind of strange. I'd recommend WinRar if you need any .zip application. The Windows stock one ain't that good.

Download and merger the Zip option in the tutorial below to see if it may help after restarting the computer. It will restore the default associations for Zip files.
