Select whether you have 32 or 64 bit for vista OS and save the executable. Right click on it and click troubleshoot compatibility, run it in Vista compatibility mode.

I can't get the Vista 32bit driver to work for this scanner. Running W7 Home Premium. Search on google shows no solutions but plenty of ticked off people looking for one with this scanner and W7.

The SOLUTION!!!
0. I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
1. Download the 5200F Windows7 driver from Canon support site (CanoScan 5200F)
2. Install it.
3. Select the 5000F driver page, and select the Windows Vista operating system. (CanoScan 5000F)
4. Download the "CanoScan Toolbox (4.136)" software
5. Install it.
6. Reboot.
And after this, will work the CanoScan 5000F on Windows 7.
