Can't access routers control page anymore

Hey.

I earlier (roughly 6months ago) made a topic about this. (http://www.sevenforums.com/network-...ess-routers-webpage-control-page-anymore.html)

I recently got a brand new computer with a fresh copy of Win7 Pro 64-bit SP1 and the same problem is still there. The problem is: I can't access the routers webpage when I'm using ethernet. It's fine when I'm using wireless, but the thing is I don't have a adapter built in to the pc, so I had to use a USB adapter which my brother took.

So, I'm stuck with the ethernet cable. I got two cables, both of them give the same results, so atleast it shouldn't be the cable or such. Also, I can easily access the page on my mobile and laptop.

Yes I remember you and I'll say the exact same thing as last time. The IP's, Default Gateway, showing here isn't from any normal type of router, they appear to be from either a modem/router "combo" or just a modem.

The default gateway isn't even the same as the DHCP server. I have no idea what this is but it's certainly not normal.

You need to fix the hardware problem before you can access this router "if there is one".

The wireless may be working because it's accessing a wireless A/P rather than the router, not sure because lack of info here.

There is also no need to type any DNS servers into your IPv6 properties. I'm also not sure why you are showing three DNS servers?

I'd be putting my money into a new router because this one just isn't right.

Tbh, I don't think it's the router, as it's just this computer. But I'm no expert so I'm mostlikely wrong. Also I ordered the network card for totally different reasons so if this is the case, ill try with another router. My ISP probably lends me one to try as it's pretty much the only one who sells those

Yes the router is giving you a valid IP but the parameter's are very strange for this router and it appears that all IP's are working in a different subnet which makes absolutely no sense to me.

Still, you should be able to access this router by typing the default gateway IP or the DHCP server IP into the URL of your browser, but since they are both on a different subnet I don't see how any of this can work.

It's no wonder you have having problems with this very unconventional router arrangement.

Not to jump in but I see no mention of resetting the "router in question" to it's factor default settings by using the reset button on the back of the unit. Worth a shot.

That's what you told him to do last time. He even mentions that the old gateway was a 192.168.x.x address but he can't see that one anymore.

I'm certain there is another router or one of those lame modem/routers involved here but lack of information is holding back the solution.

The new network card seems to throw the same stuff, can't connect to it either. Also, I think I've messed up this Router with Modem. So the issue is regarding my modem...

Yes, see now you are showing a normal LAN IP address.

I believe the problem is that one machine appears to be connecting to the modem while this one is connecting through what looks to be a wireless access point.

Or your modem is actually a modem/router, hard to say from this end. You need to disconnect from the modem and connect only to this router. The control page for this A/P should be at 192.168.0.254

I assumed there was two routers or a modem/router is involved, it appears that the first machine is connecting to the modem while the other one is getting it's IP from the router.

Is this the only router in this network?

You need both machines obtaining the IP from the same source.

Are you sure that your machine is plugged into the LAN port on this modem/router? Cable into WAN port then machine plugs into LAN port.

It appears as if DHCP is enabled on your machine but I'm not sure why it's not giving you a proper IP, other than it's plugged into the wrong port or something.

make sure your lan cable is hooked up to the lan outputs not wan yours is clearly labeled you have 4 lan and 1 wan
1- go to the properties of your lan card double click on the ipv4 part and make sure everything is set to automatically to get an ip address
2- reboot see if that works (it actually should)
3- if that dosent work go back the the properties of your lan go into ipv4 and change the settings to
ip address = 192.168.0.110
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway = 192.168.0.254

and for the dns server I think its alright to leave blank but you could try
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

and just to check go into your ipv6 and make sure that is set to auto

I did change the ipv4 settings, but missed that part...

now that you pasted your internet facing ip I would go back to your router web page and make sure that remote admin is turned off and an extra protection would be to change your username and password to log on to the router (not a good idea to have admin admin as password and user name)
OH and turn off WPS from reading your specks of the router I think it is on by default turn it off because that has to do with your wifi and it is easy to hack into with linux(OS)

Just out of curiosity im from Canada whats the weather like in Finland

Unless your a big company these are safe to put on the net when explaining your problem
Internal IP's
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

any IP's different to these and are external and you should delete and change to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
