Hi there hope everyones ok here,

I have a dgn2000 netgear router, win7 home, and 2 laptops with same problem, been trying to connect to home wireless router with wep security but win7 wont let me due to-

Click on wireless icon bottom right, find my wireless station, click on it to put in my wep key to connect but then win7 asks me to input a user name and password instead of wep key, now this is very strange because no one ive asked or senn never needs a user name and password to connect to a wireless aces point EVER!, it says please enter user credentials???????????.

Things ive done-
Trouble shooting network connections, reset laptop/router and network card, reinstalled card, looked on google and tryed never dial a connection turned off and on, changed wep to wpa within router.

I ant find a sensible answer or evan a asnswer to this so ive come here for help can anyone help me with this issue.

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH

You can isolate where the problem is by not using encryption and trying to connect. If swuccessful its the encryption if not something else. You might also want to try another form of encryption.

I see that you have tried wep, and wpa, so I would try without.

Are you using Homegroup for networking?
