Hi, yesterday I downloaded a file and wanted to copy them to my microSD. At first, the copy went well until a file can't be copied (.dat extension). I've tried on different computer and the same thing happened.

At first, I thought it is the file problem, but many people can copy them to their microSD.
I've formatted it and it stays the same and sometimes the extension of the files that can't be copied is different on various pc. The error shows that it was I/O error.

I can copy some of the files but not the files with particular extension.

Do you know what's wrong? Thanks

Hi jegule,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Backup all data in your MicroSD card to another drive and format it with SD Formatter for Windows. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

After that try copying the files. If you still get the error, discard your card. Most probably it has developed many bad sectors which can't be remapped. It may be inching towards a total failure.

Hi jumanji,

Thanks for the reply. I finally can copy all of the files to my sdcard. I think maybe it was the card reader's fault.
When I finally decided to use the microSD slot on my laptop, it works just fine.

Really thanks for your help :).

hmm... good to know that. You see how many links are there. The card reader, the adapter to insert the MicroSD Card, and then the card itself. And by practice we always suspect the main component overlooking the other links :D. Only when we insert a brand new card and find the same problem persists we think of the links.

haha, that's true. I never thought that it would be the card reader's fault.

Really thanks for your help, jumanji :).
