hello,

unallocated means "not allocated". It is NOT a partition, so no wonder you can't delete it. It would be like trying to delete the hard drive itself.

What is your goal?

If you're trying to resize the other partition, use this:
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.

Unallocated means 'nothing' is there, it's ready to be used.

You can make a new partition from this unallocated space.
Partition or Volume - Create New

You can add it to the D partition, by extending the D partition.
Partition or Volume - Extend

Unallocated means there is space that has not been assigned to a partition and is therefore unused space waiting to be allocated. I would use gparted to either create another partition of 226gb or to extend an existing partition such as c: or d:.

Disk management won't allow partition C to be extended into this unallocated space, although partition D could be extended into the unallocated space as it is to the right of partition D.

A great free program Partition Wizard Home Edition can be used to add the unallocated space into partition C.

Partition Wizard and many more free programs can be found at FREE Great Programs for Windows 7

Recommended partitions are for the first partition to be 60 - 80GB for the operating system, at least one more for your personal files and Data. This will make any future re-installation of your OS easier and will not affect your personal files and data.

Hope this information is useful, we all appreciate anyone who helps out :)

Very easy task, no need for gparted or anything like that....

Just right click your primary c partition and click "extend this drive"... It will extend the available size of your drive although the unallocated partition as stated before is not being used.

That's all,

Good luck.

Welcome to Seven Forums Ehoz, did you read the post just above yours?

The original post was from October 2009, and he has been banned for not following forum rules.

Anyway, his "C" partition is followed by his "D" partition which is followed by the 'unallocated' space.
You can not extend the "C" partition because the "D" partition is next to it, you either have to delete the "D" partition and then set up the size you want or you can use gparted or Partition Wizard to make the adjustment without deleting the "D" partition.
