Hi,

I've been working through some older threads on here and other information across the internet and it seems I have a relatively common problem with a number of solutions.

My Dell XPS M1330 with Windows 7 Profressional (64 bit) can't detect a second monitor. I suspect its because my video card wasn't updated when I installed Windows 7 after previously running Vista.

For what its worth I'm trying to connect with a HDMI to DVI cable.

Now I'm not positive how to move forward and this is where I'm looking for help.

My Standard Vga Graphics Adapter is supposedly up to date - so what to do next?

I came across an array of driver updates via Dell

but don't know how to move forward.

I'd love some help...many thanks.

I'm also a little confused because I came across this statement:

Standard vga graphics adapter in Windows just means that the video card is not automatically detected in Windows. You must locate the correct drivers from the video card manufacturer, if one exists.

Am I right that a Standard Vga Graphics Adapter is a default driver installed with Windows 7?

If so, how would I go about finding an upgraded driver that would enable me to use dual monitors?

Thanks

Doesn't appear Del provides much support for your laptop any more. I'd go directly to Intel and use their drivers. I found the following (below) for Windows 7 x64 and your chip set. Before you install the drivers, make sure your BIOS is version 15A or above.

Graphics Driver - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18228&lang=eng

Windows 7 INF files - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20019&lang=eng

Forgot to mention: The video driver is for the Intel 900 series chip set. If your laptop has the optional Nvidia video card or the optional Intel 800 series chip set, do NOT install it. You can verify this by opening the Hardware Device Manager and checking the video adapter.
