I have a Dell M4700 laptop with Windows 7 Pro. It has a fingerprint reader, all drivers updated and working properly. I did the following:

Open Dell Data Protection/Access
Clicked Customize Access Options
Windows: How would you like to login? drop-down, select Fingerprint only
Click blue Save button

Now I am asked to verify my identity, and there is a Windows password entry box. The problem here is, my account on the computer is Admin, and I do not enter a password when Windows starts. It boots straight to the desktop with no login. What do I enter to get past this? You would think selecting fingerprint only as I just did would get rid of the requirement for a password.

Never liked using a password in case you lock yourself out. Got the system fubar'd trying to set up the fingerprint reader, had to re-install Windows 7 from scratch. Never again! If it was easier to use I'd use it. My smartphone fingerprint reader works 1000x easier than this crap. Don't get me wrong, Dell M4700 is a great machine, bought as a mint refurb from ebay. Had to wipe previous user credentials, only way was to nuke Windows, screwed up trying to set a password and got locked out. Only issue on install was Invalid Partition error after installing to SSD (so fast BTW!). You have to disable the internal HDD in BIOS, install to SSD, then re-enable HDD. Fixed! That was a PITA to figure out.
