Can't find network adapter. Wired connection.

I installed Windows 7 last weekend on a clean HD. I then installed my MB drivers including my marvel(?) Lan drivers.
I could not connect to the internet. I kept getting a message about Windows 7 could not find the network adapter or the drivers for it. I can't remember which. But when I went to reinstall the LAN drivers I got a message about whether I wanted to repair or uninstall the drivers. So I figured they must have been installed, so clicked on repair. Still Windows 7 can't find the network adapter.
What could be wrong? I may try and play some more with Win7 this weekend.
I'm using a wired connection from my desktop PC to the cable modem.
Abit IP-35E mobo.

Thanks

Good Luck

The concern is your drivers don't work with Seven. Remember why Vista got such a bad rap? This is part of Microsoft's plan to get you to purchase upgraded hardware. It's what keeps them going, but you have probably already heard and read all about that. As for your concern you could try reinstalling seven again. Sometimes it will load it's own drivers, the ones it likes. Sometimes it won't. Manual install won't help. I've tried.

Open device manager, and right click on any unknown devices that show. Put in your MB driver CD, and have it look for the driver in the "driver" folder, it will pick the correct one, do not manually pick it because there might be a couple devices that are unknown like mine was.

I had the same issue, this fixed it.

Found a workaround

Angryman's suggestion is good, it didn't work for me however. Seven does not seem to like to install pre Vista drivers. I used a wireless adaptor to connect and than ran windows update and was able to install my network driver. If you have a wireless adeptor around or can borrow one that may be your solution. ;)

Hi HeadPane,

If you go to the Abit site and download the Latest Vista drivers for your motherboard & Network adaptor these should install. A lot of members have had success using Drivermax with drivers for Seven so you may wish to try this

although the reason for the lack of drivers for vista may be valid, at least in part, it is not a Microsoft issue as they neither make the hardware or write the drivers.

Hello HeadPane, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I had no problems installing the Marvell LAN drivers I got from Marvell below on a laptop running Windows 7. You might see if you have any luck with them to. If they do not install at first, then try using compatibility mode with Vista selected on the installation file.

Marvell: Consumer Driver Search

Hope this helps,
Shawn
