AHCI won't work again after running AMD Clean Uninstall Utility
So I made the mistake of using the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility, which removed my chipset/audio/video drivers.
I had Windows 7 X64 Ultimate working perfectly with AHCI and I ran AS SSD which showed msahci was running 4k aligned and getting the maximum speeds.
However after I ran the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility now I can only boot in IDE mode. The Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller is no longer there.
My windows gets stuck on the boot logo if I try to set my hard disks to AHCI mode in bios. It only boots if I put it back to IDE mode. I do set the boot drive as the initial drive to avoid BOOTMGR errors and it always starts to boot, it just doesn't go past the boot logo in AHCI mode and it boots fine in IDE mode.
I ran driverquery in the command prompt and it says mshaci is loaded:
msahci msahci Kernel 11/20/2010 3:33:58 AM
So why does my system get stuck at the boot logo if I set the bios to AHCI? If I switch back to IDE the system boots.
If I try to boot it in safe mode the last system file that loads is CLASSPNP.SYS and the next file that is supposed to load after never does and it gets stuck at this spot.
I'm writing this message from the same machine, booted in IDE mode perfectly, just can't get AHCI to work again.
