I'm running Win7 Home Premium and I notice the Tools/Folder Options/View /Apply to folders, doesn't seem to work. It didn't work in Vista either. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

What are you trying to change in the view tab?

Could be a conflict in content type. Setting the custom view in a folder with metadata not contained in other folders.

When you open a file/folder, there's an option to view the contents as a thumbnail, tiles, icons, lists, etc. Then you have to specify in Tools/Folder options/View/Apply to all folders. My selection of Icons never stays permanent. It always defaults back to list.

Helloo Jacatone,

Reset the folder views to see if it will remember them when you do it again after the reset.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I tried this fix but it doesn't seem to make change in the registry. Do I have to be root or something? Thanks.

Sorry, maybe a naive query. You are, of course, clicking the "Apply" at the bottom of the window?

Yes, clicked apply.

I was initially frustrated with Win7. But, it's so much more capable and sophisticated than XP, it's worth it. Vista was a step I wish I had missed.

There are some places in Windows Explorer where Folder Options:Apply isn't available. For example, Computer and any folder in Libraries. I'm guessing this is because they're aggregates instead of unique places on disk.

The first thing I do after OS installation is undo the hiding of any files and set unique Folder Options for pics, videos, music and other files.
