I'm getting a lot of BSOD's due to kernel power 41 issue lately, in gaming and web surfing. Have read tutorials on the site and I get the basic gist of what to do - set up minidumps, look at them using Whocrashed etc then work out what may be the cause.
Problem is that after following the guide at http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/204214-dump-file-change-default-location.html
I had to create it(c:\windows\Minidump) , then I made sure that small mem dump is selected, no reboot and the directory is the default %SystemRoot%\Minidump.However, I still dont get anything in the minidump folder! Any ideas?
Ok, did what you said and recreated the bluescreen scenario. For what its worth, the bluescreens happen mostly when gaming (currently skyrim) and I transition a level (ie loading from one area to the next).
I still cant see any files in either the minidump or widows root directory ! However...files attatched...View attachment 190471
After getting very frustrated with the recurring BSOD's I embarked on an aggressive uninsntall of all unecessary software, thinking that may help - made no difference. Then I downloaded memtest and tested each of the 4 1GB sticks of ram...and what do you know one of them was throwing a LOT of errors. The other 2 were fine and 1 would throw one error maybe every second pass.
Now running the machine on 3 gb of ram and no BSOD's in 2 days of 8 hrs plus uptime !
